I was running the (wintousb) Windows 10 Technical Preview but found that it would not update the builds.
So are you saying VHD solves this issue and if so how do I go about installing a wintousb VHD?

Thanks

You must make sure that the "VHD" checkbox is checked on the destination disk selection page.

Thanks for the reply. I have now successfully installed build 10041 using Wintousb VHD method.
I then used windows update to download the latest updates - this took quite a few attempts to work successfully. However I'm not able to update my build version to the latest. There is no preview build tab in windows update section. It also won't activate using the original product key which came with the technical preview: NKJFK.......

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

It still won't let me update Windows build despite using Wintous VHD method. I get the following error message when trying to install by ISO file:

This PC can't run Windows 10

* You can't install windows on a virtual drive.

* You can't install windows on a USB flash drive using setup.

I thought VHD method was suppose to overcome this issue.
Please help - thanks!

Here is screenshot of error message.

In this case (using Media Creation Tool), in fact it is a new installation, not an upgrade installation.

Thanks for the reply. So how exactly are you suppose to upgrade Windows 10 Technical Preview builds? Are you saying that you have to do a clean install every single build !? If so then it seems wintousb is useless for this. I don't think you can even get an ISO for every build.

Thanks

Why are you still using the windows 10 Technical Preview? Windows 10 has been officially released, please install the official version of windows 10, then you can Get updates via Windows Update.

The problem is you can't update. Secondly Windows 10 Technical Preview continues despite retail release. New builds will be released soon. There must be a way to upgrade builds from wintousb install!?

You are right, we don't support it.
Upgrading Windows (7/8/10 technical preview/10 insider preview) To Go drive to Windows 10 To Go is a good idea and we will try our best to implement this feature.

We have found a way to solve this problem and we are working on it now. We need some more time to coding and testing, which could take up to 2 months, so please pay attention to us.
