Convert to efi/GPT
#1
HI

I am new here and to uefi.  I currently have a bios mbr based HD with windows 10 and an asus x99 motherboard. I am exploring ways of converting to efi/gpt.  I know that using my backup software Acronis, I can restore my HD to GPT format but that makes it unbootable.  I have created bootable USB sticks with efi bios but cannot boot into my win10 drive.  Is that something EasyUEFI can do?  Please forgive my ignorance if this is a trivial question but I would appreciate some assistance here.  I know that I can reinstall win10 from scratch in uefi mode but would like to avoid that if possible.

Thanks in advance.

I'm sorry, EasyUEFI is a software that allows you to manipulate the EFI/UEFI boot entries, it can't help you more yet.
And maybe this link is useful to you:

Thanks for this.  Actually I had done all that the Acronis link suggested (I think!) and had created a target disk in GPT but couldn't figure out how to boot into UEFI.  I cannot recall the exact steps I did to try and boot but I will try again and see what I can manage.

Please make sure that your computer supports UEFI. If it still failed, maybe you need to contact the Acronis support team for support.

Thanks.  My problem was simply that I did not create the efi boot partition properly.  I searched online and actually found a very helpful youtube video on how to convert to gpt/uefi without destroying data.  The link is here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1eXD30Fox4.
