Full Version: intelligent sector backup mode & very large files

This is probably more of a general Windows question as related to HBS.

If I use a very large  file (as an example a VeraCrypt container)  and make even a small change to one of the encrypted files inside the VerCrypt container, Windows then notes the big file has changed. File type backups would then require a complete new copy of the file to be made.

I would like to understand if Windows actually changes only a portion (block) of that big file so HBS  incremental Disk/Partition backup would still be relatively small. I'm experimenting but have not reach a definitive answer.

Thanks for any insights as to what actually happens

If only one block of a large file has changed, the incremental backup image will still be small, but the time required to create the incremental backup will increase because the program needs to check which data block has changed.
