Full Version: Restoring files with really long path + name

Hi,

Just update to version 5.6.2.0 to confirm what I am about to describe still exists in the latest version.

I made a Disk/Partition backup and selected whole disk. The disk includes partition which has volume letter D. Backup itself finishes without errors.

Next I choose restore, then select task to restore, and select the backup task I just created. I click NextI switch to the File mode. I select root folder and set the restore to -location as C:\. The backup inclues some files with very long path and file names. Those do not restore successfully. For example:

Code:
Failed to restore the file: C:\D+ Storage (NTFS)\Users\kkkkkkk.eeeeeee\Documents\Järjestötoiminta\Kristillinen terapiapalvelu ry\KTP - AV-tuotanto\EI LÖYDY ONEDRIVESTA\KRTP-02 Ilpolta\Anttila Pirjo 171115 SH 6. Personallisuuden häiriöt sairaudet ja hoito Malmin.mp3. (The system cannot find the path specified.)

Next, I go to the home screen of the Hasleo Backup Suite and select Actions -> Mount Image for the backup task I tried to restore from. I browse to a folder of a failed restore and find that the file actually exists. I am able to copy the file from the mounted backup folder to the corresponding folder at "C:\D+ Storage (NTFS)\..." by drag & drop between two Windows Explorer windows.

In my opinion, I have excluded file's path+name+extension length limitation in NTFS itself, because copying with Windows Explorer seems to work. There is something else inside the program which makes entries long enough problematic.

To further analyze the issues, please click "[Image: memu_normal.png]" > "Save log file" to open the save log file dialog, save the log file and then send it to us via email at [email protected].

HBS does have issues with supporting very long file paths, and in fact, many programs on the market have compatibility problems with long file paths. In such cases, our recommendation is to mount the image and manually copy the necessary files.
