Please consider removing this mechanism. I understand that you probably don't want people seeking support for older versions of the program which is fine. But this is just a terrible system that hurts preservation of both the software and the data it backs up.

That is a fair point, I still think this having a used by date is something we can do without in any program really. I mean why not just make it so that it works without weird crap happening. There's just no good reason for it.

Curious... why wouldn't you update the application to incorporate new features, improvements and additional stability? Sounds like you just wanna capture the last FREE, feature rich version prior to going a PAID route.
The Admin/Devs have said there will always be a FREE version whenever that may happen (if ever) and that it will be compatible with all previous compression methods so that any previous images may be restored successfully.

I know what it's like to be hacked and also lose all your data due to a bad sector or pcb.
I have an 8TB hard drive with about 20 years of accumulated data on it.
The point of backing things up is basically insurance. I really don't want my 20 years worth of data not being accessible because I couldn't update this, or activate that; or some other stupid thing that the developers decided to add to their program to make it worse somehow.
It's not the old version or having to pay for it that worries me. It's not being able to retrieve my data because I can't access the net, the company's website has vanished or some other emergency related thing happening.
That is the reason you back your data. It's encase there's an EMERGENCY
I think people are forgetting that.

Perhaps by the time a paid version is released there will be no need for "software expiration" processes anymore and it will become a thing of the past. Conjecture on my part, but it makes sense to me.

As long as I can get it offline 100% of the time without unique machine ID or some other rubbish I'll buy it.

HBS is better anyway. It's compressing is smaller and it's recovery as well as imaging building is faster than Reflect.

I actually did try that.
HBS is better anyway. It's compressing is smaller and it's recovery as well as imaging building is faster than Reflect. Still a shame that Reflect can no longer be trusted to ensure your data.
