Newbie - Complete verification of backup - banger696 - 07-24-2025
Just ran my first backup to an external USB HDD. I have a mix of Windows and Linux systems so have done a partition backup. When verifying the backup the quick verification takes seconds but the complete takes several hours. I did a differential after the main backup, does the complete verify check the initial backup and differential that might account for the time to verify.
Also does Hasleo Backup Suite support Ext4 partitions or is it best to do a sector by sector backup.

The quick check only checks whether all files of the backup task exist or whether the structure of some files has been damaged, it does not check the integrity of all the data blocks backed up, while the complete backup checks the integrity of all the data blocks backed up and therefore takes longer. Please note that both full and quick modes will check all existing image files.
Hasleo Backup Suite does not support backing up Ext4 partitions using intelligent sector copy technology, so Ext4 partitions can only be backed up sector by sector.

Thanks for the clarification on the verification modes. Good to know about the Ext4 limitation, sector by sector makes sense now for Linux partitions.

Does Differential work on sector by sector backups?

Differential backup can also be used in sector by sector backup mode, but since all data on the drive is read and checksummed, this takes longer than intelligent sector backup mode.
