Differences Between Legacy, VHD, and VHDX Formats - smokeexceed - 11-19-2025 Hi everyone, I’m new here and have a quick question. After formatting a device, I see three options—Legacy, VHD, and VHDX. What do these choices mean? Thanks in advance for any clarification! When you choose to use VHD/VHDX mode, there is only one VHD/VHDX file in the physical drive, and all Windows files are stored in this VHD/VHDX file. |
