I have now run some tests on a different PC with the backup files going to an internal SATA 8TB HDD and an external USB SSD.
Hasleo V5425 Backup Time Verify Time Size
Ext USB SSD 0m59s 1m 54s 36.8GB
Int SATA 8TB 4m 22ss 8m32s 36.8GB
Hasleo V5521 Backup Time Verify Time Size
Ext USB SSD 1m01s 1m 54s 36.8GB
Int SATA 8TB 6m58s 8m12s 36.8GB
If anything, the difference is even more marked on this PC between V5425 and V5521 backing up to the internal SATA drive,
4m22s vs 6m 58s.
The time for the ext USB SSD is fairly similar between the 2 versions.
Obviously, it would be nice to use an SSD to hold the backups, but it becomes expensive if you want to hold a lot of backups.
I'm sure it would be of benefit to most people to optimise the backup and verify times on Spinning HHD as well as SSD.
This is strange. Our tests show that the performance of V5.4.2.5 and V5.5.2.1 is almost the same when backing up to SATA, and we have carefully reviewed the modified code, which shouldn't cause such a large difference. Are you sure that both the source and target drives are exactly the same?
