Multiple Backup Sets

Greetings. I have been working with support about multiple backup sets and by their answers I fear that I may not understand how Hasleo handles backups.

My schedule stipulates a new full backup every Sunday night. I also have a differential backup run every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday night.

I am assuming that each of these differential backups relates to this first full backup.

I have scheduled a new full backup to run every Sunday night and then differential backups like before.

Here is my main question:

Do I assume correctly that the second set of differential backups will relate to the NEW full backup and NOT back to the initial backup or is this incorrect?

I fear I may not be clear on your programming with a schedule like this. Can you help me understand this basic question. Thank you for your kind help.

you are correct here. Every new differential backup directly relates to its predecessor full backup. And every incremental backup directly relates to its predecessor, which can be a another incremental, a differential or a full backup.

Example of a full chain (all files needed for latest backup):
Full1, Diff1, Incr1, Incr2, Incr3

Another example:
Full1, Incr1, Diff1, Diff2, Diff3, Incr2, Incr3, Full2
- Restore from Full1 requires Full1
- Restore from Incr1 requires Full1 and Incr1
- Restore from Diff1 requires Full1 and Diff1
- Restore from Diff2 requires Full1 and Diff2
- Restore from Diff3 requires Full1 and Diff3
- Restore from Incr2 requires Full1, Diff3 and Incr2
- Restore from Incr3 requires Full1, Diff3, Incr2 and Incr3
- Restore from Full2 and everything after that requires the new chain, beginning with Full2

So every new full backup basically starts a new chain, everything after that is related to that new full backup or its successors.

Oh YES, THANK YOU that was very clear and reassuring! Nice going. So then that begs the question, if I manually delete a previous backup set using explorer, I would assume that that action will not effect a newer set of a full back up with its associated differentials. Is this correct? I would assume that if I need to restore, your program will let me choose which backup set and chain of differentials to restore. Is this correct?

Now I know that assuming things is always dangerous, but I am so pleased you are clarifying things for me.

Your above assumptions are correct.  If you'd like this type of operation to happen automatically (to manage storage), that feature is also available within the suite using image scheduling and retention management.
