Just an idea: Could you maybe implement it in such a way that disk/partition backup will also work, as long as the user selected the whole disk or at least all system relevant partitions?
I only use the disk/partition backup instead of the system backup because for me personally I see it as an "advanced" option. The system backup option feels more like a "beginner" option in case you don't know exactly what partitions to select from.
But both should be treated the same way as long as all relevant system partitions are selected, I think.
