Scheduled Manual FULL Image after Disk Geometry Change
#1
Greetings!  I have a scheduled DISK task (under current release) which has been running for many moons.  I just changed the geometry of both the OS partition and the adjacent Windows Recovery (RE) partition.

On the next manual FULL image under that task, I expected the image to contain the appropriate geometry changes.  Instead, only the partitions that hadn't changed in geometry were in the FULL image... the (2) changed partitions were not.  I don't think that's supposed to happen.

Any ideas...??

Well, your Forum won't let me EDIT my original post Dodgy    (it only lets me edit my replies to that post)

What's supposed to happen in that situation is that whatever image is trying to run (Full, Diff or Inc), it will see the geometry change and force a new FULL... that surely didn't happen, at least not in the expected way Confused .

Thought that situation should trigger a new Full as you said, it shouldn't just partially backup the amount of data requested. I guess(!) that making a new task would work properly?

I'm guessing it will... but I'd like the old task to work correctly.

Is this backup task a Disk/Partition backup or a System backup? For system backups, the following version will automatically select new partitions when changes occur to Windows operating system-related partitions.

For Disk/Partition backups, the program will not automatically select changed partitions.

Why not for Disk backups ?

The Disk/Partition backup feature of Hasleo Backup Suite allows users to select the partitions to back up, rather than backing up the entire disk, making it difficult for the program to determine whether a newly appeared partition should be backed up.

Just an idea: Could you maybe implement it in such a way that disk/partition backup will also work, as long as the user selected the whole disk or at least all system relevant partitions?

I only use the disk/partition backup instead of the system backup because for me personally I see it as an "advanced" option. The system backup option feels more like a "beginner" option in case you don't know exactly what partitions to select from.

But both should be treated the same way as long as all relevant system partitions are selected, I think.

No, the feature, if implemented, should include ALL partitions in either a SYSTEM or DISK/PARTITION image if they change their geometry.  All partitions are important to the user in a defined image, not just System partitions.

...and in the current implementation, the user is not evened warned that partitions in their image are no longer being imaged... a very large surprise when it comes to needed restoration at some point (the restore will probably die due to no OS or RE partition being in the image at the time of restoration, as in the example mentioned).
