Too good to be true ?

I'm a long-time Veeam agent for Windows free user. Always worked when needed. When a couple of days ago Veeam prompted me to install the latest version I did so and created a new recovery usb stick when prompted to do so.

The recovery stick didn't work: no keyboard, no mouse. Found out that it's the latest Microsoft update bricking the winre environment. None of the suggested solutions worked. Veeam is silent about the problem. Waiting for a Microsoft fix.

Found Hasleo Backup. Installed it. They have their own winpe environment. It works. The backups are faster and smaller than Veeam, both full and incremental. Everything works, mounting images is easy and fast. Recovery stick offers the same interface as the full Windows environment.

How is this possible? Questions on this forum gets answered. Bugs get fixed. Where's the catch?

I believe Hasleo can build a recovery stick using their own or WinRE. If you care, have a look at post #9 from Froggie in this thread: https://www.easyuefi.com/forums/thread-4100.html

The catch is none right now. They apparently make money off their other products but the free for this program may not be forever, but who knows, so use it as you wish.

For some people the catch might be that Hasleo is a company based in China and there‘s little known about the developers themselves. But if you leave out politics, this software is a masterpiece and what they offer just works out of the box - and it’s still free!

I still believe in the good in people and in my opinion, HBS shows clearly that the developers are behind their product and really care to improve it. For me personally this weighs higher than anything else and I’m really happy to have made the switch from the competition.

My sentiments too. I switched over to HBS from Acronis for which I still have a subscription. Much prefer HBS - simpler, works better, quicker and questions get answered. I also use Haleo EasyUEFI and that is great too.

The Hasleo/EasyUEFI team has been around since circa 2012.  Since then not one peep concerning anyones possible nefarious motives, including phoning home other than when necessary.

I find the group trustworthy and honest when direct dealings are required.  My vote...  Exclamation  Angel

Our product development is more technology-driven, whereas our competitors are more profit-driven. Clearly, we also need revenue to sustain further product development. If you are familiar with our other products, you will find that our early products were essentially the only ones in the world when launched, whether it was EasyUEFI, WinToUSB, or BitLocker Anywhere. However, as more and more other companies introduced similar products, we also felt tremendous pressure.

The competitors have ample manpower and financial resources, yet they allocate more personnel to product promotion rather than actual R&D, because promotion can easily generate higher profits. Unlike them, we lack both funding and sufficient manpower. That's why every user who gets access to this product is fortunate—you're fortunate, and so are we.
