Imaging Performance Testing: MR8H, ETBH, HBSP
@garioch7,

Thank you for your points.

You're right that the high view count of this thread clearly shows the growing interest in Hasleo Backup Suite.

I fully agree that testing data helps both users and the development team, and I support your call for more members to share their own results. The more real-world data we have, the better.

Have a great day.

Note that this backup cycle included different Windows 11 Pro Build versions for each backup program tested in this three-week cycle.  I have not encountered that before, but Windows issued an OOB (Out Of Band) update after the ETBH testing date.

Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

@AdvancedSetup,

I edited your post to remove the quote box codes indicating that I had written your post.  I hope that this meets with your approval.

Thank you for sharing your comments on my comparison topic, which does seem to be popular.  It is regrettable that not more Forum members have undertaken regular testing of the Hasleo Backup Suite itself, or comparing it to other competitor products.

I will be posting the newest results of my latest tri-weekly testing cycle, using the HBS Version 6.0.0.1. Alpha version, in two days.

Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

Hi Phil!  I would offer such comparisons if something in the code changed the way the imaging/recovery actions are taken.  Since the data compression algorithms changed, I have seen little change in the general speed of the product (my internal comparisons are done between HBS and Reflect X <Macrium hasn't done anything with X either  Rolleyes).

For now, things just roll down a fairly fast highway...

The real thing to be compared is the following (comparing similar editions)...

Macrium Reflect HOME:  $49.99USD (per year as a SUBSCRIPTION)
Hasleo  Backup  HOME:    44.95USD (1-time license fee, including all updates, lasting for the entire life of the product)

With almost a complete set of parallel features, this appears to be a no brainer.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. I'd like to add my points:

1. Besides changes to the compression algorithm, code changes can also cause performance regressions.

2. More users posting test data helps keep this thread active and visible to more people.

3. @garioch7’s destination drive is an HDD; if anyone can provide test data with an SSD as the destination drive, that would be very helpful.

4. Of course, price is also a key factor when choosing backup software, helping more users find the option that works best for them.

Have a ncie day!

Another three weeks have passed.  I have completed my latest tri-weekly testing cycle.

I was very interested to learn whether the new HBS Version 6.0.0.1 Alpha release had any impact, compared to past testing with various releases of Version 5, on the HBS performance in my test environment ...  It happens that enhancements have unforeseen consequences on the performance of the core backup code that was not altered, as far as I know.

In fact, in my testing, there were marginal improvements in backup and complete image check times with Version 6 compared with some of the Version 5 releases.   Without further preamble, here are my latest results.

@garioch7,

Thank you for continuing your tri-weekly testing and for being the first to provide comparison results for HBS 6.0.0.1 Alpha. I'm glad to hear that the addition of new features has not affected the software's backup performance.

Have a nice day!

Best regards.
