Imaging Performance Testing: MR8, ETBH, HBSP
#31
@admin,

I will continue my testing for the indefinite future because I see it has value for us all.

The Hasleo Team more than deserves congratulations for this tremendous achievement for such a young product!

I am happy to contribute my minimal efforts to provide some real-world testing.

What will be really interesting will be the next official release, and how it performs ...

Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

Today, I completed my next round of testing all three products.  Below are the results.

Imaging/Check Image Times

Computer:

2019 Dell XPS 8930 SE Desktop Computer
i7 CPU, 32 GB RAM
DELL GeForce RTX 2060 GPU (6 GB Memory)
Three Internal Drives:
Drive 0 [HDD]: ST2000DM008-2FR102 (ZFL0WX49) [1863 GB] D:
Drive 1 [HDD]: WDC WD4005FZBX-00K5WB0 (V30884SF) [3726 GB] G: (Target Image Drive)
Drive 2 [SSD]: SSDPEMKF010T8 NVMe INTEL 1024GB (5CD2_E428_9150_7048.) [953 GB] C: (Source Image Drive)

Common Defaults to all three programs:

High Priority
Full Disk/Partition Images (all partitions)
Source Drive: Internal Intel 1 TB SSD (Disk 2)
Target Drive: Internal WD Black 4 TB HDD (Disk 1)
Default Compression (Recommended)
OS: Windows 11 Pro 25H2 (26200.7462)
Recommended Program Defaults, unless otherwise noted.

Listed in chronological order of testing (earliest date to the latest date).

2026-01-16 (Times rounded off to the nearest minute)
Macrium Reflect 8 [MR8] (8.1.8631)
Default Filters

Disk 2 (6 partitions) Size: 235.8 GB
MR8 Image Size: 167.4 GB

Image Backup - Disk 2: 13:52 - 14:05 (13 minutes)
Image Verify - Disk 2: 14:05 - 14:17 (12 minutes)
Total Imaging Time: 25 minutes

2026-01-23 (Times rounded off to the nearest minute)
2026 Easeus Todo Backup Home [ETBH] (18.0.0 [Build 2025-12-03])
Default Filters

Disk 2 (6 partitions) Size: 239.5 GB
ETBH Image Size: 182.4 GB

Image Backup - Disk 2: 13:50 - 14:06 (16 minutes)
Check Image - Disk 2: 14:07 - 14:30 (23 minutes)
Total Imaging Time: 39 minutes

2026-01-30 (Times rounded off to the nearest minute)
Hasleo Backup Suite Professional [HBSP] 5.6.2
Two Filters disabled (Page/Hibernation/Swap Files, VSS Snapshot Files), Smart Backup enabled, Highest Priority.

Disk 2 (6 partitions) Size: 238.4 GB
HBSP Image Size: 156.9 GB GB

Image Backup - Disk 2: 13:29 - 13:41 (12 minutes)
Check Complete Image - Disk 2: 13:42 - 13:53 (11 minutes)
Total Imaging Time: 23 minutes

If I were a person about to purchase/use an imaging program for the first time, I would chose HBSP because of the superior backup/check image times, and the smaller backup images on my hardware configuration, compared to the other two products.  To be fair to Macrium, I am not using their latest version in my testing because of my dislike of subscription-based imaging software programs.

The image size is important to me because my original backup is to an internal HDD, but I always copy that to an external HDD subsequently that I only plug in long enough to do the image copy, thus keeping it completely safe from a possible ransomware or other malware attack.  That external HDD is stored in a water-and-fireproof strongbox.

Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

Thank you for the detailed test once again, @Phil! This cross-comparison data based on identical hardware is highly valuable, especially for users who prioritize backup efficiency and storage space.

Have any other users in practice compared the performance of Hasleo Backup Suite with the latest version of Macrium Reflect? We welcome everyone to share their actual test data or usage experiences, as this provides excellent reference for product improvement.

Thank you in advance for your contributions!

@admin,

You are most welcome.  I shall continue my testing.  I am happy to provide some "real life" data.

I fully endorse your request for more Forum members to share their testing results because, as you stated: "this provides excellent reference for product improvement."

I invite anybody to use my template, and modify it to their circumstances.  Recording the performance does not take long.  I have my testing template saved as a .txt file, which I then just have to modify with the new results each week of the imaging program I used.  When a three-week cycle is completed, I just copy and paste the .txt file into a post, and then start again on a new three-week testing cycle of MR8, ETBH, and HBSP.

I am feeling kind of lonely, so I hope others will join in doing a little comparison testing to assist with the development of the Hasleo Backup Suite.  I know that I am not alone in having more than one imaging program because on the Forums that I frequent, many, like me, like to have redundancy so as not to be totally dependent upon one imaging program in case of a disaster.

Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

@Phil,

Thank you again for providing the performance comparison data. It's certain that HBS's image checking performance has been greatly improved.

Should there be noticeable differences between the Home and Pro versions of HBS? I ask because you differentiated with the P in HBSP, and I was just wondering why.

Also, it's nice to see HBS be faster and result in a smaller image size than Reflect 8.

N8, that's just the version @garioch7 uses... a licensed PRO.  There is no difference in speed between HOME and PRO (I've tested both many times)... just price and features.

HBSP stands for Hasleo Backup Suite Professional. @Froggie is absolutely correct, all versions are the same except for differences in price and supported features.
