Backup Operation Failed

Hasleo Backup Suite Ver 5.5.2.3 Build Dec 5, 2025 Win 11 Pro 25H2

I was doing a disk backup of a HDD and I get this message:
The backup operation failed, please contact us for support.
There are bad sectors on the drive. (0x07540069000001B1)
The operation was not successful.
 
I did a chkdsk on the disk I was backing up and on the destination disk.
I can't find this error code. 

I have a zip of the log files.

Can someone help me out?

Not too much detail in your post but in general, the bad sectors don't have to be in C, they can be in the smaller partitions or any other included in your job.
The small partitions often do not have drive letters assigned so to chkdsk them you have to assign a letter which can be done using Window's Diskpart via a Terminal. Right-click on the blue Windows icon and select Terminal (admin) - admin just in case you need the admin permissions. You can/should remove the letter after checking.
Did you use chkdsk [partition letter] /r or just /f? /f checks the file clusters in use and you would think that would be adequate, however, /r checks the whole partition and can sometimes pickup bad clusters causing a problem. Unfortunately, for a large partition /r can take a long time.

Thanks for getting back to me. I was backing up my D: drive. According to  Disk Management that disk only has one partition. I checked the drive by right clicking on it selecting Properties -> Tools -> Check. I thought this was the same as chkdsk, but just realized that it isn't. I also ran CrystalDiskInfo and it said it was in good health. The disk is 8 TB but only using 1.38 TB.
Should I run a chkdsk D: /r on it?

Have you tried your backup more than once, it could be some a passing fault but probably not, although it is possible.
You could do a chkdsk /r but it will take a long time for 8 TB.
My first approach would be in any order you wish:
Try another port for the disk if possible.
Try another cable if possible.
Have a look in the Windows Event Viewer to see if there are any disk errors logged.
Download the disk manufacturer's diagnostic program and run it. CHKDSK is good but it is a general diagnostic, sometimes the manufacturer's diagnostic can catch things missed by chkdsk.

Have you been successfully backing up with Hasleo before this problem or is this a first attempt?

Steve, send that ZIPped LOG to "Support AT EasyUEFI DOT com" with a copy of your original post as the content of the email.  They should respond fairly quickly.

CHKDSK checks the logical file system, not the actual physical drive and hardware.  A S.M.A.R.T test is not comprehensive.  That is why most HDD manufacturers include both a Short Test and a Long Test to physically check the HDD hardware and the disk itself.

On two different occasions over the years, using different backup programs, I was alerted to failing external backup target HDD by the backup failing a Check Image.  When the Long Test was run on both drive, errors were found that did not appear in the S.M.A.R.T. results.  I discarded both drives.  Ever since, I have been even more vigilant to ensure I do a Complete (Full) Check Image, or equivalent, depending on the backup program I am using, to ensure that the backup is truly valid and can be used to successfully do a restore.

I am dubious that this is a Hasleo issue.  The most likely culprit is the disk integrity of either the Source or Destination drives.  Please check them both using the manufacturer's disk-testing software program, or invest in a good overall testing program, like Hard Disk Sentinel Pro, and do the tests with it.  I have lifetime licenses for that program for both of my computers, and I have it set to continually monitor the three drives (one SSD, two HDDs) in my desktop computer, and the SSD in my laptop.  I have the program configured to put drive icons right in my system tray, so I can always see at a glance what is going on with my drives.
