[v5.6.1.1 beta] Wrong keyboard layout in WinPE media
#1
Hi,

just made a new WinPE rescue media from the current v5.6.1.1 beta version from within a german Win11.

When booting from this rescue disk I just realized that the keyboard layout is wrong:
Pressing äöüß gives ';[- which seems to be the standard US layout instead of German.

I guess this is a side effect of the date/time display change that was introduced somewhere in the latest beta versions?

This can be fixed temporarily from within WinPE with this command:
wpeutil setkeyboardlayout 0407:00000407

You can also change this permanently with DISM during image creation, found this documentation here:
https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/window...windows-11

Hoping for a permanent fix though, entering passwords is hard if the keyboard layout is wrong Big Grin

Sorry for forgetting to reply to you yesterday. Please open 'Backup Suite.ini' in WinPE and check whether the following values are 0407 and 00000407.

Hey, no worries at all!

I checked the config file for 2 different ISO builds. Build 1 is the one I usually choose because I prefer apps in English.

-- Build 1: HBS language English with German Win11
Code:
[Settings]
CurrentLanguage=en_US
DateFormatLong=dddd, MMMM d, yyyy
DateFormat=M/d/yyyy
TimeFormat=h:mm:ss AP
KeyboardLangId=0409
KeyboardLayoutName=00000409

-- Build 2: HBS language German with German Win11
Code:
[Settings]
CurrentLanguage=de_DE
DateFormatLong=dddd, d. MMMM yyyy
DateFormat=dd.MM.yyyy
TimeFormat=HH:mm:ss
KeyboardLangId=0409
KeyboardLayoutName=00000409

So for both configs the keyboard layout is 0409 instead of 0407.

Also, by the way: The date and time format changes when switching languages in HBS.
Shouldn't this be based on the Win11 region settings?

Thanks for taking the time to respond and happy holidays to you, too!

Cheers!

The value of KeyboardLangId is read from the current system's keyboard settings and is unrelated to the language used by Hasleo Backup Suite. Are you sure your Windows is currently using the German keyboard layout?

Regarding the change in date and time format, this is related to the current settings of HBS. If you have selected "Follow program language," it will change when you switch the language.

Wishing you a happy New Year and a pleasant holiday!
