Therefore, after you changed the number from 10 to 7, the system began recounting the incremental backups until it reached the new setting (7) before triggering a full backup. This is why it ran another 7 incremental backups (bringing the total to 11) instead of continuing from the 4 that had already been run.
We understand that your expectation is for the system to remember how many incrementals have already been run and only perform the remaining number needed based on the new setting.
