There is nothing hostile or belligerent about any of my posts. Negative? Complaining? Sure, but not hostile. I actually really liked the software, which is why I am so bummed at the way they are handling it now. You're right though, a lot of forums will ban you for the slightest even constructive criticism.
Software that does otherwise? How about all of the software on Linux. ALL OF THEM, and they're almost all free to the user. I have never even seen a "EULA" on Linux. They don't exist.
On Windows: WinRar, Reaper, Alcohol 120, Goldwave, Power Quest Drive Image, my first imaging software before it got bought out, destroyed, and became Norton Ghost. I have a "lifetime license" for that too, but it didn't exist 3 months after I paid for it, which is why I have the attitude I do about this. Same goes for AnyDVD, CloneDVD and many others I got robbed on. There are thousands more, many of which are free to use or with paid versions that simply assign you a "registration key" that is never checked online, or access to the paid download (behind the paywall) in the first place. Those are not even mission critical like imaging software, or the OS itself. Mission critical software should never have online requirements beyond the initial purchase. No software that you pay for should have an expiration date hard coded into it, ever! That makes it a dirty subscription scheme, what most of us here fled from with Macrium.
