  Recreating WinPE Boot including drivers
Posted by: WW5410 - 03-13-2023, 10:21 AM - Forum: Hasleo Backup Suite (Free Windows Backup & Restore Software) - Replies (6)

I'm working though using the Hasleo Backup suite to replace my other backup/restore app, so I used the tool to create a WinPE Boot entry -- and skipped over the driver page.

Now, when I boot, the laptop does not see the Bluetooth mouse.  So, my plan was to recreate the WinPE Boot but this time, add the BT drivers for the mouse.  So, I used the option to Remove the Boot record.

But I though when I clicked to Add it again, it would put up the Driver screen -- but it does not.

So, I'm guessing I have to remove something that Hasleo has created and saved for the WinPE Boot.

I looked in the c:\boot folder (where the other app stores its WinPE boot files) and there were no Hasleo files there.

So, I need to know where to go and what to remove to force the reload of the Drivers window.

Thanks

  Restore to GPT
Posted by: khanyash - 03-10-2023, 11:56 PM - Forum: Hasleo Backup Suite (Free Windows Backup & Restore Software) - Replies (10)

My Windows 10 installation's BIOS mode is Legacy. HBS restore has a "Restore to GPT" feature. Does this feature convert an MBR system to UEFI? And after restoration, the system will boot, or is a BIOS mode change required?

Adding detailed comments to a system backup
Posted by: WW5410 - 03-10-2023, 09:04 AM - Forum: Hasleo Backup Suite (Free Windows Backup & Restore Software) - Replies (3)

Sorry if this has been answered, but I didn't see any forum threads and was not able to find it in the documentation ...

I'm switching over to using Hasleo from a different Imaging/Backup solution and am used to providing lengthy, detailed comments for individual system images.

I checked the box in the Advanced features to allow comments but can not find the place to enter such comments.  The other app had a separate Window for that, but I do not see anything like that in the Hasleo app.

So, where would I find this?

Hasleo Backup Suite and Gom Player Plus
Posted by: khanyash - 03-04-2023, 09:42 PM - Forum: Hasleo Backup Suite (Free Windows Backup & Restore Software) - Replies (16)

I'm using Hasleo Backup Suite and have Gom Player Plus on the system. After every HBS restore, I have to reactivate GPP.

It would be great if you could fix the issue.

  BIOS Boot information?
Posted by: iamthekings - 03-04-2023, 02:29 AM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (3)

To avoid having to press a function key, to direct the boot to my USB device, I need to know what folder/file to point the boot process to in BIOS setup.

I added a boot option, pointing it to the USB device.

BIOS then asks me to select the media file, listing the folders and files it can see at that location.
I have not yet selected a folder as the target, so I am not sure doing so will not result in another selection to make from the contents of the (yet-to-be) selected folder.

The list of options are: (See attachment)
<System Volume Information> (Folder)
<Boot> (Folder)
<EFI> (Folder)
<$RECYCLE.BIN> (understood as not a valid option)
bootmgr (File)
D519D51B______fill in the blank with tons of characters______.exc (File)

I greatly appreciate any assistance!

Disk/Partition Backup: Inconsistency in Restored Disk Geometry
Posted by: Froggie - 02-24-2023, 12:53 AM - Forum: Hasleo Backup Suite (Free Windows Backup & Restore Software) - Replies (9)

My main System disk has 5-partitions on it (EFI, MSR, C: <OS>, V: <Data> & Microsoft Recovery).  I'm currently using Hasleo's Disk/Partition mode to image this device in a backup capacity to my main imaging software.  As a backup, I expect it to restore the exact same disk geometry as was imaged... this to insure that my Primary disk backup functions properly following a Hasleo restoration.  This is not happening in the Disk Mode restore, whether I use the "Keep Partition Layout" option or not.

Windows re-lettered my V: (data) partition to letter F: following the restore, and my primary imaging software can no longer find the geometry needed (Partition 1 <EFI>not found where it should be) to perform a proper backup.  Even if I change the mis-lettered partition back to V:, the primary imaging application still cannot find the configuration it needs.

I don't use "System Backup" mode because I want that extra Data partition in my image.  Is there something I'm missing here...???

This issue was also in the 13Jan2023 build as well... any help, greatly appreciated!

Apparently HBS v3.4 is now available... but without RELEASE NOTES, it's impossibly to know what has been addressed/changed along the way.

Maybe I just can't find them... any help, greatly appreciated!

Problem Restoring from Network Share 0x006D000600000000
Posted by: rpaz - 02-15-2023, 02:18 AM - Forum: Hasleo Backup Suite (Free Windows Backup & Restore Software) - Replies (7)

Hi,

I'm new to the forum and a recent user of Hasleo Backup Suite v3.2 Blush

I successfully create a full image backup of a computer that is in UEFI mode to a Network Share, now I'm booting from the Rescue Disk created on the same machine and want to do a Restore, but it doesn't work because I got the error 0x006D000600000000 Object is not initialized after entering the network credentials to access the network share!

Before accessing the network share I open the Windows Command Prompt and mapped a network driver using:
net use h: \\srv-lab\d$\imagens

The command authenticated successfully.

On the Hasleo Backup Suite I can access the H: drive, create folders, etc. without problem.

On the BackupMainUI.log there is this:

Code:
2023-02-14 11:40:18 T:000009EC .\UIPublic.cpp 4769 nRet=0x006D000600000000
2023-02-14 11:40:18 T:000009EC .\UISyncExecute.cpp 3268 nRet=0x006D000600000000
2023-02-14 11:40:18 T:000007E4 .\UISyncExecute.cpp 3296 nRet=0x006D000600000000
2023-02-14 11:40:18 T:000007E4 .\EnterNetConnectPasswordDlg.cpp 238 nRet=0x006D000600000000
2023-02-14 11:43:44 T:000007E4 .\UIPublic.cpp 5254 nRet=0x1485001000000000
2023-02-14 11:43:44 T:000007E4 .\RestorePage.cpp 181 nRet=0x1485001000000000
2023-02-14 11:44:10 T:000007E4 .\MainWnd.cpp 1921 nRet=0x0780000D00000000

Any idea how to pass this error?

TIA

  Different options / documentation?
Posted by: cer - 02-11-2023, 05:18 AM - Forum: Hasleo Backup Suite (Free Windows Backup & Restore Software) - Replies (1)

Hello everyone!

I am wondering about the different backup options or some general differences and look for a proper understanding of backup strategies. I can't find any proper documentation other than the online user guides, but they're very practical or hands on and don't give any further information.

So:
How does a system backup differ from a hard disk backup? On a conservative 1 disk/partition system, a system backup isn't smaller than a disc backup, so what's the difference?

I imagine that the different clones provide files as they are on the disk/partition, while the backup options create hasleo image files that need to be handled by hasleo.

How do you backup your computer containing personal data and some software licenses: Do you regularly create system backups? Backup the whole disk? Or just a system backup once and then file backups?

Thanks everyone
Chris
