  WinToUSB_Setup.exe - Virus detected?
Posted by: citizenc - 06-07-2016, 10:27 AM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (1)

Hello,

I went to the WinToUSB website and downloaded the free edition. However, I wasn't able to even run the program because Windows Defender immediately deleted it, saying it was infected with a virus. ("Trojan:Win32/Maltule.C!cl")

Download URL was http://www.easyuefi.com/wintousb/downloa..._Setup.exe

Have you been compromised? Sad

Bug Legacy Greyed out Sandisk Extreme 64GB
Posted by: aswinrajan - 06-06-2016, 05:41 PM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (1)

hi team - i'd purchased the SanDisk 64 GB Extreme Pro since it was listed as a good option for Windows to Go
http://www.easyuefi.com/wintousb/affilia...Drive.html

Oddly I don't have the legacy install option and have only VHD and VHDX. I have tried multiple Windows 10 ISOs (PRO and Enterprise) all with the same result.

I tried using another SandDisk Extreme Pro but this time 32GB and I have the Legacy option.

I really need the legacy mode. I'm using WinToUSB v3.0 , what could be the issue / work around? (also when I select my 64GB SanDisk, it warns me of performance issues and reformats! the 32GB does no such thing)

Wink Basic Questions on Installing Windows 7
Posted by: Tsundere-chan - 05-21-2016, 07:32 PM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (15)

Hello all Big Grin ,
I have some simple questions to which i cannot find answers anywhere else.

My goal is to install any version of windows 7 on a usb drive or external hdd.
From what I understand win7 x64 ultimate w/ SP1 seems to be the safest way since it has more drivers. Please let me know if I'm wrong. My motherboard(x64) seems to be uefi-based with legacy-boot support available, but SATA/AHCI options are unavailable. The internal hdd is eMMc.

How exactly should I format/partion/scheme the external hdd?

Some tutorials say that system and boot partitions can be on the same partition with both being NTFS (4028kb cluster?). But this link says otherwise: http://www.easyuefi.com/wintousb/faq/en_...o-USB.html
GPT or MBR? VHD or Legacy?

Any suggestions for which tool I should use for partitioning?

Thankyou Big Grin

  Screen Resolution
Posted by: wharris128 - 05-13-2016, 06:14 AM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (11)

I have created the USB Boot disk with Windows 10. It starts booting then comes up with error about needing to change the screen resolution. It says out of Range Signal cannot display this video mode. Change computer display input to 1680x1050. Is there a way to adjust the resolution of the build?

Thank you,

Wade

Bitlocked "Windows 8 To Go" failed
Posted by: Hatan - 05-08-2016, 01:20 AM - Forum: Windows To Go Upgrader - Replies (15)

I've just tried "Windows To Go Upgrader" on a bitlocked version of "Windows 8 To Go", but after entering the Bitlocker-Key I was getting a blue screen. Do I first need to decrypt "Windows 8 To Go"? (Afterward "Windows 8 To Goo" hardly booted up again ....)

Win10 won't boot on newer computers
Posted by: Trozza - 05-02-2016, 06:15 PM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (10)

Hi,
I installed windows 10 on a portable hard drive with WinToUSB using the Bios/UEFI method. It worked on my older PC (about 8 years old), and on my works old laptop (no idea how old). I tried it on my wife's new laptop (roughly 3 months old), it wouldn't boot, it just goes to a blank/black screen. My work gave me a new HP zbook mobile workstation to replace my old laptop, and it too won't boot from the portable hard drive. After I select the USB hdd as the boot drive, it just goes to a black screen. After a few minutes i try hitting a few keys on the keyboard and it just starts beeping at me. I don't get any windows boot logos or warnings. I take it back to my older PC and it boots fine.

I had a look inside bios (luckily they didn't lock it down) and I can see that it's setup to boot in legacy mode and not UEFI. However, just to try a few different options,

  • I setup the hard drive to boot as UEFI and ran it through the process again. When I select the USB hard drive on my laptop, it just ignores it and goes to the next bootable option and starts booting up the internal hard drive.
  • I setup the hard drive to boot in legacy/BIOS mode and ran it through the process again. When I select the USB hard drive on my laptop, I just get the same blank/black screen as before.

I'm at a loss as to what to do, as it doesn't provide me with any error messages.

Any ideas on what I can test?

Thanks,
Troz
