  Upgrade Win 8.1 to 10: Error 0x8007001f
Posted by: TangoEchoAlpha - 04-02-2017, 02:46 AM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (2)

Hello,

When trying to upgrade from Windows 8.1 to 10, I get a window saying "Something went wrong" with the error code 0x8007001f.

When I press retry, I run through an install while stil in Windows 8.1 but then I get an error on the Windows 10 setup window that says
"Sorry, we're having trouble determining if your PC can run Windows 10. Please close Setup and try again.

Does this have to do with the fact that my USB drive is a removable drive rather than a fixed/local one?

  accidentally deleted EFI partition
Posted by: kuraki - 03-17-2017, 08:09 PM - Forum: EasyUEFI - Replies (1)

Doh! Stupid me accidentally formatted what I believe was the EFI partition. I had to format the partition again as FAT32 before it would let me reinstall Windows 7. The problem now is that my dual boot for Windows 10 is no longer listed at boot up. The partition is healthy and the drive letter D shows up under My Computer and all the data is still there.  I was hoping this software would help with this.

I tried rebuilding the EFI system partition by selecting the Windows 10 (second partition) instead of the Windows 7 because I don't have the media for that. But it gave "Failed to run system API. (0x0780001500DF0000)"

Attached is the user.log.

Any help or ideas how to restore the second OS option is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

  Add another 'ubuntu' entry?
Posted by: hallergard - 02-06-2017, 09:31 PM - Forum: EasyUEFI - Replies (2)

On my PC I have 3 Linux: Kubuntu, Linux Mint and opensuse, and the Bios NVRAM bootmenu shows Windows Boot Manager, ubuntu and opensuse. Kubuntu and Linux Mint both install to the \EFI\ubuntu\ folder, which means I get the bootmenu of the last one installed of the two. I would like to be able to choose either of them, just like I now can choose the opensuse bootmenu.

I copied the \EFI\ubuntu folder and renamed the copy to \EFI\mint, and edited its grub.cfg to show the Mint partition's UUID and gpt-number. Then in EasyUEFI I created a "mint" entry and gave it the path to \EFI\mint\grubx64.efi. When rebooting "mint" does show up in the NVRAM bootmenu, but choosing "mint" starts the Kubuntu bootmenu. Please advise!

Wintousb 3.4 skip partitioning scheme option
Posted by: bbyunzone - 02-02-2017, 03:50 PM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (7)

I have a Samsung Portable SSD T3 250GB, and having issue when trying to install Windows 10 on it from a Windows ISO.

My current OS is Windows 10.
The version of WinToUSB is: 3.4

This is the instructions I am trying to follow:
http://www.easyuefi.com/wintousb/faq/en_...n-USB.html

In step 7 it said:
"After you select the USB drive, a pop-up will appear asking you if you want to format it to continue, tick the "MBR for BIOS and UEFI" checkbox, then click "Yes"."

But I don't see the "partitioning scheme option" pop-up:

Instead it skip to step 9:

(The below image is from the original instructions, the image I see is without the little boot partitions on the right.)

Even the installation was successful but without create any boot partition.

Thanks! Smile

Minimum USB Size for Windows 10
Posted by: jknepp - 01-18-2017, 12:36 AM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (12)

I am having issues getting my Windows to Go installed. I purchased the Professional software and I can install it on an external hard drive with no issues; however, I've tried both a 16GB and 32GB stick to install windows 10 and it keeps coming up with insufficient space, do I need more space than that? Most W10 installations are less than 16GB. Thank you.

Using the free ISO from MS, already including the 1607 update, it was possible to create an up-to-date USB flash drive https://youtu.be//iB9MtTM-2kY

  License
Posted by: herminator - 01-14-2017, 07:16 AM - Forum: WinToUSB (Best Windows To Go Creator) - Replies (2)

Hi.
Whenever I create a WindowsToGO Stick out of my Win 10 Pro machine it is licensed as soon as it is online.
Is my Win10 license copied to the stick while creating it? Any chance to remove it to give the stick to colleagues so that they have to enter their own key?

Thank you very much!

  easyuefi and safe mode
Posted by: laurent - 01-14-2017, 12:18 AM - Forum: EasyUEFI - Replies (3)

Hello,
I use EasyBCD with my Windows 8.1 to start in mode(fashion) without failure, but I think that it would be better to use Easyuefi. I went on their site, but I do not see the solution to return my usable touch F8 and put a temporization in the starting up. Could you help me?
Yours
