Imaging Performance Testing: MR8, ETBH, HBSP
#41
Everyone is correct.  I use the Pro version.  I bought it the day it went on sale back in October, the version with lifetime free version updates.  I wanted to support the Hasleo Team to continue to improve the product.

I happy to note that there are no performance differences between the free and paid versions.  I want my testing to be meticulously recorded and accurate, so my test results always identify the specific backup program and its version that I used.

And yes, the Check Image times have been significantly improved since I have owned the product, and the change seems to be permanent now across both the preceding beta version, and the current release version.

Have a great day.

Phil

Dear @Phil,

Thank you again for providing the test data. We would also greatly appreciate it if other users could share their test data, especially in cases where an SSD is used as the drive for storing image files.

Best regards,

@n8chavez,

Those are impressive statistics! When I finally replace my 2019 Dell XPS 8930 SE, I will definitely be looking at getting a second internal SSD for imaging.

Thank you for sharing. Have a great day.

Phil

HBSP is the clear winner in speed and image size in this round of testing.  A new cycle begins next Friday.

I have been justifiably been accused before of being pedantic, but I thought I would make some suggestions about the backup and check image English messages when the program is running.

"Compress Level:" would be better as "Compression Level".

The word "the" is consistently omitted in some messages.  Good grammar prefers definitive articles be used.  I told you I was pedantic.

"Checking file system" would be better as "Checking the file system" and the second message indicating file checking completion should also have a "the".

"Size of newly created image file" could similarly be improved in English by including two  the" additions; i.e., "The size of the newly created image file"

"Checking image files" could also be improved in English by including a "the"; i.e., "Checking the image files".

Respectfully submitted for your consideration.

Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

While I do like and appreciate these comparative post, perhaps it would be better to do them based on HBS version and not every three weeks. They can get repetitive if the same version of HBS is being used every time. Just a thought.

Anyway, I agree with the sematic suggestions you've made.

I do agree with "compression level", no questions here. But especially with technical products and UIs in general - isn't it rather common to leave out articles like "the" in captions? I'm not talking about full sentences here, but captions in UI elements where it's rather common to have texts as compact as possible.

English is not my native language though, so take this with a grain of salt. But it feels odd to me to  write "the" in texts like "Checking file system" or "Size of newly created image file" because those texts read like a check list to me. At least in German I would leave those out, maybe I'm biased because of that.

Just my 2 cents  Big Grin
