Thank you for the clarification. Simply notifying users that the backup type has changed should be easy to do.

I really don't have a great concern about this issue but if I read pt58's reply as fact, the bigger issue is an incorrectly labelled backup type. If a Full was made, for any reason, then its label should call it a Full. Of course, proper labelling of any other type is necessary too.

After careful consideration, I must make the following clarification:

When Smart Backup detects changes, only newly created partitions and partitions that have changed will be backed up using the Full backup mode. All other partitions will continue to use the configured backup mode to minimize storage usage.

For example, suppose there is an incremental backup task with Smart Backup enabled, set to back up an entire disk. The disk contains multiple partitions, but only the geometry of one partition has changed. In this case, only the changed partition will be fully backed up, while the other partitions still use incremental backup. Therefore, it is unreasonable to mark the entire backup as Full, because the unchanged partitions in that image only contain incremental data.

Based on the above, we can only remind users during the backup process that partition changes have been detected and that the affected partitions will be fully backed up; we cannot mark the entire backup image as a Full backup, unless we perform a full backup of all partitions.

If we choose to perform a full backup of all partitions whenever changes are detected, the impact on system backups may be relatively limited, because the C: drive will be fully backed up anyway, and it is already the partition with the largest amount of data in a system backup. However, for disk backups, the impact could be significant, since other partitions may contain large amounts of data.

@admin, your explanation on how the backups are marked in the changed partition case makes sense and I doubt very much you want to implement another category such as "Mixed Backup"
Maybe some message can be displayed/recorded when this happens to remove the surprise factor. People are usually happier to know what is happening rather than being left wondering, even if it isn't what they prefer.
