Is Folder Exclusion Really not available in the free version?
#1
I need to exclude a single folder from the backup job, but it says that the filter is not available in the free version? Am I doing something wrong?

Hi,

you're not doing anything wrong. Custom backup filters are indeed only available in the Home edition or higher.

Here's a comparison chart with the details:

Hope that helps!

This is a one off need. If I resize my C: drive and create a new partition will that break my existing backup job?

It depends on what backup job you've created and if "Smart backup" is enabled in the advanced tab of backup options.

In "System Backup" mode, HBS automatically selects all partitions related to your current OS. Newly created partitions won't and can't be selected for backup.

In "Disk/Partition Backup" mode, you need to select all relevant partitions yourself. Your newly created partition can and might be selected automatically, depending on whether "Smart backup" was selected in options.

"Smart backup" will automatically reselect partitions if there was a change in disk geometry, e.g. if partition sizes changed. In "System Backup" mode, your new partition will not get selected but your OS partition should be reselected automatically. In "Disk/Partition Backup" mode, your new partition should be selected automatically, so you would have to deselect that partition manually in that case. If "Smart backup" is not enabled, you'll have to reselect your partitions manually.

Keep in mind, your next backup will be a full backup (even if you select incremental or differential) because your OS partition size changed.
