Version 6.0.0.0 Alpha downloaded and installed. Smooth installation. Congratulations to the Hasleo Development Team on getting Version 6.0.0.0 Alpha released in an Alpha version. The frequent rate of release of new and enhanced features is indeed impressive!

I just went to activate the new Image Protection feature for my G: internal 4 TB WD drive, which is my primary backup destination, after which I copy the backups, using Teracopy, to one or more external drives. I got an error when I clicked on "Enable."
I have attached a screen capture of the notice I received. There was/were no corresponding log entry(ies) in "View Logs."
My computer specs are listed in my comparison Topic. Windows 11 Pro Build: 26200.9457 is my current Windows version.

Implementing such a notification icon would probably work without restarts. It would check in background and then just pop up somewhere in the corner for you to click on it.

Without having it tested myself, I would assume you have to first enable the slider on top to activate the driver. Then you choose your drives in the next step. My guess is, with the slider set to off, those buttons are not greyed out to allow removing the feature from drives even though the driver is not loaded on that PC.
Thank you for that tip. I never even noticed the "Master Switch" at the top right. Once I turned that on, then I could successfully enable Image Protection for my G: drive.
I’ve just created a backup using version 5.9.2.3. It went without a hitch. Which, of course, is par for the course with Hasleo. A few minutes later, I found out about the opportunity to test the alpha version. I’ll just take a moment and then get started on the tests. The documentation is, of course, also available. Greetings to the Hasleo team and all fans of this programme.

Some feedback for the new image protection feature:
It works really well, I had no problems with installing or uninstalling the driver multiple times. I really like the idea that the driver is not installed by default and that you don't need to select it during setup.
The driver survives updates/reinstalls. I think that's a good thing, because that keeps your files protected during updates. But this might lead to unexpected scenarios if someone decides to uninstall HBS because it will still protect *.dbi files even though HBS is fully uninstalled.
Idea: Maybe uninstalling HBS could set a flag in registry for the driver (hasleopi) that HBS was uninstalled? A new install of HBS would remove that flag again. But if hasleopi is reloaded in the meantime (after a Windows restart) and the flag is still present, it would know that HBS was uninstalled for good and that it should remove itself. Maybe that could also be implemented for hasleoft and hasldisk then.
I noticed that hasleopi remembers protected partitions by its drive letter, e.g. "E:\". There's a flag in registry that controls which drive letters are protected. Currently, if Windows decides yet again to change the drive letter of your USB device, the protection is gone completely. And if another drive is connected with the same drive letter, the protection will now switch over to that drive.
Idea: I think it would be better if it would remember the partition GUID to uniquely identify the partition. That also aligns with how HBS currently finds its backup source and destination drives.
Because of the way hasleopi remembers protected drives, if you remove/reinstall the driver, all information about protected drives is gone as well. So drives need to be reconnected and protected again.
Idea: Maybe use a marker on the partition itself (hidden system file in root directory) that marks this partition as protected. The file would be protected as well just like any *.dbi file. The benefit of this marker would be, that you can uninstall/reinstall the driver anytime and the marker is kept intact. And if you connect your drive to another PC that also has installed HBS and the driver, the drive would be instantly protected there as well.
Idea²: The GUI part below the "Enable" slider could then reflect the current protection state for each drive and allow changing it - even when the slider is in off-state and the driver is not loaded.

@Admin, can you explain the improvements related to #8 above? I constantly hear where users don't get all the needed drivers in the PE build when using this feature. Specifically sometimes NETWORKING, HID (mice, keyboards), etc.
I'm curious what the improvements really are... thanks!
Very limited tests with V6 as I am away from home. Installs and replaces old version successfully. Observations:
1. The create ED seems to have taken much more time. Will record the time with the next build.
2. The ED is huge at 2GB which is double the size of previous versions
3. 2-finger scroll on my HP still does not work in the ED environment
Many more tests to be done when I am back next weekend.
