HBS causing machine reset when doing a Full backup
#11
@Mike,

The best version of HBS is the latest production version.  I know you are concerned, but could you please wait for an expert analysis of your backup logs by the Hasleo Support Team, please?  Hasleo is dedicated to providing the best customer support.

Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

There are no dump files generated.

My developer guy says this bug (in my system) is down to on or more of :-
- Version of HBS
- Windows updates

If I can get hold of an older version of HBS I am willing to give this a try.

Without any indication, at the event or LOG level of such an event... my money's on a hardware issue.  I don't know which one (sounds like a temperature or loading issue) but you should be able to duplicate it just by doing a FileCopy of a large amount of data to a fairly high speed device.

I had this type of issue with CPU overtemp.  If this is a laptop, you need to get in and vacuum out all the dust that accumulated in the cooling fins (a very common problem).

As far as older versions are concerned, gimme a version # and I can make it available (I have them all from v3.5 on)

From the log file, it is clear that the backup was indeed interrupted abnormally, and the cause was a computer reboot. The reboot timings appear to be fairly random.

Since this is a Windows Server operating system, if a software-level issue caused the computer to reboot, the system logs should record a corresponding event. However, based on the current findings, no relevant software-level event records have been found. Therefore, I agree with @Froggie's assessment: the issue is more likely caused by a hardware problem, and the operating system may not even have had the opportunity to record an event.

To help further narrow down the issue, I suggest that you lower the image transfer speed limit in the backup options and then check whether the issue still persists.

The steps are as follows:

1. Go to Backup Options => Advanced page;

2. Check the "Image transfer speed limit" option;

3. Set the speed to a lower value, for example, 100 MB/s or less;

4. Save the settings and then re-run the backup task.

Lowering the speed can reduce the I/O and hardware stress during the backup process. If the reboot issue disappears after lowering the speed, this would further support the hardware-related assessment.
