Pro license purchase: "By filling in your personal data you agree ..."
#1
Purchased a pro license, I saw the following text when hovering over the question mark next to the email input-field:
"By filling in your personal data you agree that 2Checkout, its affiliates and partners can use it for order related communications"

What does that mean?
1. When issues might happen regarding the purchase then: 2Checkout will contact you through the email address provided?
2. You purchased a backup tool license: 2Checkout or our affiliates/partners can send you offers regarding other software?

This is probably a 2Checkout related issue, but is the info provided safe from spam related things?

Can I assume you had never issues around this with other users?

Sorry to ask this but that line could go both ways.

As one of the world's largest PC software trading platforms, 2Checkout is unlikely to send spam emails to purchasers. The primary purpose of collecting email addresses is to send order notifications to buyers. We will contact 2Checkout to obtain more accurate information.

3. Sell your info to every spammer/scammer on Earth?
4. Store your credit card number forever and then get hacked and have it sold on the dark web?

I suspect all of the above.

Would you please produce credible evidence to support those defamatory allegations?

Over many years, I purchased many software products via 2Checkout.  I have never been spammed.  2Checkout is a reputable company.  I visit a dozen Forums daily.  I have never seen any post, credible or otherwise, that claimed any of the above had occurred to a 2Checkout customer.

In my view, and I am not a lawyer, your comments are libelous, and bring discredit to the Hasleo Software Company and its Forum, as well as exposing Hasleo to possible legal action for hosting your post.

Did you give them your credit card number?  I have never conducted business with 2Checkout afaik.  Since I don't have a business relationship with them, I didn't feel comfortable giving them my credit card number.  So I created a temporary card number through my bank with a very low maximum which expires in a month to make my purchase.  It seemed like a prudent move and was a very simple thing to do.

And fwiw, I used an email address I set up eons ago for this very type of thing. I give companies I don't have a relationship with an alias address connected to my "junk email address" (such as 2check@whatever). If I get no SPAM after a period of time and continue to do business with said company I might update my email address with the company to my real one at a later date. Again, a simple enough precaution.

2Checkout is very widely known, as has been for a long time. They are reputable.

Good idea. I'm not sure that is even an option at my bank. Never heard of it...but good idea!

For the "record" I was not implying that 2checkout (or Hasleo) would do anything nefarious or is not reputable. Note the question marks. They were not "defamatory allegations" - They are questions/concerns, not statements. I was just expressing general concerns one would/should have with any online purchase. A third party "money taker" is always suspect to me.

Ever give your email address to an insurance company who swears it is safe, secure and won't be shared to get a car insurance quote? Within 20 minutes you'll get SPAMMED with "offers" from other random insurance, and other unrelated companies.
