New HBS user - short introduction
#1
Hello everyone — new Hasleo user here! 👋

Just joined the forum and wanted to introduce myself. I'm Denis, a power user from Belgium with a serious case of "update nerd" syndrome — I build and test Windows environments on external SSDs, and safe update testing is basically my hobby at this point.

I recently purchased Hasleo software licenses for 5 people (family & friends who trust my recommendations!), and I've been using Hasleo Windows To Go Upgrader extensively to run portable Windows installations from external drives. It's been a game-changer for safely testing updates without touching my main system.

Fun fact: the name Hasleo literally contains "Leo" — and as it happens, my zodiac sign is Leo ♌. So I'd like to think it was meant to be. A lion trusting a lion. 😄

Looking forward to being part of this community and contributing where I can!

Well... the best I can say is WELCOME to the community, happy to have you!!  Exclamation

Since I haven't seen you ACTIVE on the Macrium Forum since 2021... what have you been doing (or imaging with) all these years?  Huh

Thanks for the warm welcome! Great to be here! 😊

You caught me — yes, I was active on the Macrium forum back in the day! Haven't posted much since 2021 because... honestly? I barely had any problems. My imaging setup was rock solid, and when everything works smoothly, there's not much to complain about. I prefer posting when I actually need help or want to share something useful.

Outside of this forum, I'm also active on the Wilders Security Forums — been following that community for years. Both places have great power users who know their stuff.

Still doing the same thing though: Windows To Go and portable Windows testing on external SSDs. Just switched to Hasleo recently for safe update testing without touching my main system.

What about you? What's your imaging stack these days? Still Macrium or trying out other tools?

I've always run a 2-app imaging/backup System (originally PRIMARY=Macrium, SECONDARY=Image for Windows)... just backing up my backup app just in case.

In March of 2023, I replaced Image for Windows (a great app, BTW)  with Hasleo Backup Suite and worked with the HBS developers along the way to help them create as solid an imaging entry as they could.  Circa 18-mo ago, I decided that HBS was solid enough that I switched Macrium and HBS as far as primary/secondary was concerned... HBS has been my goto primary imaging solution ever since that time.  The product has improved greatly since that switch was made.

You've made a good decision as far as that family pack is concerned... @$18USD per System for a full-featured LIFETIME license (until end of product, not software version), I haven't seen any product out there at that price with those features, a really easy decision to make.

...again, welcome to the Forum!

Hi and welcome to the Hasleo forum!

Good to see new people around here, especially if they're already familiar with similar tools.
I was also a former Macrium user and switched to HBS around 2 years ago. And I never really looked back since then.

Enjoy your stay!

Btw: I moved your postings to this new thread as it wasn't directly related to the new HBS version. Just in case you're wondering  Big Grin

@Cambell7,

I also welcome you to the Hasleo Forums.  My last name is Campbell, and I have a "7" at the end of my "garioch." to make it harder for the email spammers.  @Froggie, under his other name, over at Wilders and ElevenForum posted such glowing reviews of HBS that I too, as a former and still current user of MR8, purchased the lifetime package from HBS Pro the day it went on sale back in October 2025.  I have been totally impressed the product, and the dedication of the Hasleo Team.  It was a great investment.

I have used a variety of backup products over the years, including Fastback Plus, Acronis, Easeus Todo Backup Home (ETBH), and Macrium Reflect.  Like @Froggie, I prefer to have two backup programs, just in case ...  Since I have lifetime licences for Macrium Reflect 8 Home (MR8), and ETBH, I have continued to use them and test their performance compared to HBS.  Every three weeks, I finish a cycle of testing all three products and post my results here.

As you have discovered already, there is lots of knowledgeable and prompt support here on the HBS Forum.

Welcome aboard.  Spread the word.

Have a great day.

Regards,
Phil

@Cambell7,

Welcome to the Hasleo Forums!

It's always a pleasure to see experienced backup software users joining us. I especially noticed your mention of the "Leo" hidden in the name and your connection to the Leo zodiac sign.

Your mention of transitioning from a well-established product like Macrium Reflect makes us feel both honored and grounded. Macrium Reflect is undoubtedly an outstanding benchmark product in the industry, having reached a very high standard in stability and feature maturity. In comparison, Hasleo Backup Suite is still a very young product, and we are fully aware that we still have many shortcomings. We have a long way to go in terms of stability, refinement, and feature completeness.

That said, every bit of trust and feedback from our users is fuel for our progress. The suggestions from experienced users like Froggie, al3x, and garioch7 in our forum have always been important directions for our improvement. We will continue to work hard to refine our product and strive to live up to the expectations of experienced users like you.

Once again, welcome! We look forward to seeing more of your contributions in the forum. If you encounter any issues or have any great ideas, please don't hesitate to share them.

Have a nice day!

Best regards,
