It would be necessary if the geometry changed on a selected partition (as opposed to a full disk) when an INC or a DIF backup was scheduled because a FULL backup would be required. Without a FULL in this scenario one of two things would happen: 1) One would not be able to restore from the resulting INC/DIF; or 2) HBS would error out and no backup would be made. As @Froggie has stated, in this case a FULL needs to be created (a new chain started) so unattended backups don't just stop.
Scheduled Manual FULL Image after Disk Geometry Change

If you're saying it will do that with v5.4.2.3 I will be happy to test again, but the original DISK/PARTITION task definition did have those partitions selected... they disappeared from the image after the geometry change. What you're saying is that's not supposed to happen with v5.4.2.3... or it won't happen after your suggested fix (I'm a bit confused here). Pls explain...

In V5.4.2.3, we have only made improvements to the system backup feature, which will automatically select the new partition after changes occur in the operating system-related partitions (System, boot and recovery partition). For Disk/Partition backups, starting from version V1 to V5.4.2.3, if the geometry of the partition changes, HBS will prompt an error indicating that the partition could not be found. If you did not receive this error message after changing the partition's geometry, please provide us with detailed steps to reproduce the issue. Thanks.

My problem with Disk/Partition backups only prompting an error is that if I'm nowhere near the computer for a few days, or a few weeks, and the geometry changes on partitions which are not included in the "system backup feature" then backups just stop. I don't want backups to stop, even on non system partitions. I want a new full created automatically so that the backups will continue running automatically.
So, if I have Windows installed on Drive A, and Data saved on Drive B and I create a schedule to run a FULL on both drives on day 1 of the month and INCREMENTALS on all other days of the month... Then the geometry of Drive A changed on day 12, I want the software to change the scheduled INCREMENTAL on day 13 to a FULL and continue with a new chain with INCREMENTALS through the end of the month. Same goes if I created the same schedule for only Drive B. Even though it only contains only personal data, if the geometry changes for whatever reason, I would want a new FULL to start when a scheduled INCREMENTAL cannot be completed due to the geometry change. It is extremely important to me that my backups continue to run automatically without intervention in these cases.

Agree with Gork. If it can't do the incremental or differential the fallback action should be to automatically change the backup to a Full so backups can continue without user intervention.

Another vote for full backup without intervention including ALL partitions previously selected

We know that everyone is concerned about how to continue executing backups without manual intervention after changes occur in partition geometry. We have been thinking about it these days, but it seems there is no effective way to accurately determine whether the changed partition is a modification of the originally selected partition. Our current approach is to make a comprehensive judgment by combining the partition's location and the filesystem's serial number. If the modified partition overlaps with the location of the originally selected partition and the filesystem's serial number remains unchanged, then it is considered an alteration of the originally selected partition.
We will add a feature we currently call "Smart Backup" in the advanced option page of the backup task. When this feature is enabled:
1. If all partitions on a disk are selected, Hasleo Backup Suite will automatically reselect all partitions upon detecting changes (including modifications to existing partitions or newly created partitions). 2. If only some partitions on a disk are selected, Hasleo Backup Suite will determine whether the modified partition is an alteration of the originally selected partition based on partition's location and the filesystem's serial number. If so, the changed partition will be automatically selected. Otherwise, Hasleo Backup Suite will prompt that the partitions cannot be found.
