I totally concur with the opinions expressed by @al3x in the second preceding post.  +1

I myself have wondered about the veracity of review sites, even Trustpilot.  How many of those reviews are actually genuine?  It looks like I am only one of the two certified reviewers with a review of Hasleo Backup software in all of the 28 reviews.  You can tell us by the checkmark in the top right of our avatars.  It is quite a process to achieve "Certified" status.

Moreover, as has been pointed out before, new companies start out with a reduced score of 3.5 based on 7 bogus, invisible reviews assigned by Trustpilot.  With so few reviews of Hasleo to date, relatively speaking, it is easy for a single negative rating to drop a company's score significantly.  What we need are more genuine reviews by our real user community.

Our rating has slipped again , and it makes me wonder how exactly some competitors manage to keep their scores at 4.9. Are their products and services truly that outstanding, or is there something else going on? At least for now, it feels like we can never quite reach that level. Honestly, Macrium Software's rating feels more genuine.

I would bet you can buy reviews in bulk for every mayor review platform (not saying they did). Or if you have enough employees and or friends they can also vote you up. With only 28 reviews every review can change the score in a bigger way since you only got a few reviews. 

Tldr. You need lots more reviews to not have the score change easily.
Always remember as long as you are better than e.g Vodafone there is hope

Haha, thank you for the consolation! At least we are doing better than Vodafone, which does give us some relief.

To be honest, given our small review base, we certainly could use various methods to "encourage" users to leave positive reviews in order to boost our score. But frankly speaking, it just feels a bit off, and it goes against our principles. We would much rather receive genuine, honest feedback from our users.

I don't think that's something you should invest too much energy into honestly. There are so many factors that would need to be considered:
Inc/Diff or Full backup? How much data was actually changed? Are there any folder exclusions set up? What compression level is used? List could go on forever.

And then you still don't know what data is backed up. Is it a ton of text files that can easily be compressed? Or does the user try to backup movie files that almost don't compress at all.

In that Trustpilot rating Clay mentioned that he got an error after "hours of waiting". I wonder how much data he was backing up that it took hours for him to hit the barrier. And if there's so much data to back up, I would've made sure beforehand that there's enough free space on the target disk. But that's just my 2 cents.

You really hit the nail on the head. The variables you mentioned, like backup type, compression settings, exclusions, and whether files are pre compressed, all have an impact on the final image size. That is exactly why our dev team decided not to implement this feature, spending a ton of time on something that would not yield good results just does not make sense.

Thank you very much to you and the other users who are willing to take the time to leave genuine reviews for us. We truly appreciate it.

Regarding Trustpilot ratings, we had never really paid much attention to them initially. However, some user reviews were so far from reality that we decided we had to respond.

After I responded to Clay Zaccaglini's review regarding insufficient disk space, he changed his rating from 2 to 4, which gave me some relief.
