After purchasing WinToUSB Professional + Lifetime Free Upgrades, I also bought Hasleo Backup Suite Professional for $54.95. However, I’ve noticed that the Hasleo Backup Suite Professional Family edition for $89.95 has since been released. Is there a way to upgrade to the Family edition by paying the price difference, or am I out of luck?

I also bought 2 Professional licenses and would rather have bought the family pack instead if I knew this was gonna happen.
Will probably keep the licenses now though, I see it as a $20 donation to the developers.

$55-200 is not cheap software either. If it was $10-20 I may take the risk, but not for $50+.
Sorry, but NOPE!

Since the release of Hasleo Disk Clone in 2020, we've spent five years developing Hasleo Backup Suite. Some of Hasleo Backup Suite's features originated from Hasleo Disk Clone, so in reality, it took us more than just five years.  Now you're telling us it's only worth $10 to $20. Bro, you're using Windows Enterprise Edition—that's commercial use. If you can find backup software offering lifetime free upgrades for just $10 to $20, we'd be happy to give you the license you need for free.

I was not saying Hasleo is only worth $10-20, just that for $50+ (which is fine otherwise), I am not willing to pay that for software with a "time bomb" in it, for the reasons I mentioned. If I pay for software, I should be able to use it, forever. Maybe not newer versions (maybe discounted $$ upgrades?), but when the version I paid for is set to self destruct on a given date, that is just a veiled subscription, just like Macrium, and it's why most of us are here, isn't it.

I don't like the Enterprise/LTSC restriction either. What version of an OS I use is my business. I use Linux too and will never use Windows 11, or 12 most likely.

I think I'll wait until all this is settled before I buy a license.  The last thing I, or anyone, want if some there to be anything that restricts the ability to use HBS when I need it.  I'll wait for the timebomb to be removed, then I'll buy.

Same. When the time bomb is confirmed to be gone, and I confirm that version works well for me, I may rethink a purchase. The time bomb and the Enterprise/LTSC restriction puts a nasty, bad taste in my mouth though. I don't like attempts at my computing habits being dictated to me or controlled by someone else. I have had software I paid for outright block itself from running on my PC (after an update/patch) before because they had deliberately black listed a certain model of Lite-On CD/DVD burner I had in my system because it was capable of reading/writing data they did not want me copying. Nope!

Yes, you are. I use LTSC because it is less invasive/bloated, and not in any "commercial" way. Why or what O/S or how much I pay for it, I use is none of your f'ing business. You make and sell good software, or you don't. What/how/when/why I use it is my f'ing business alone. That said, on a free version, I am not complaining about it and would have bought a paid version...except for the "self destruct" code in it.

Our software has been using this mechanism for more than ten years, and we have explained this restriction many times before. We have also said that the machine would be reintroduced after the paid version is released. Over the years, have you ever seen us use such a mechanism to coerce customers into upgrading in order to use our services? Users with a lifetime license still use the software normally, even if they purchased our product in 2012.

...but you FORCE them to upgrade via a "self destruct" in the current version, no? What if I don't want the new version for whatever reason. What if my Internet connection is down/gone at the time I need to restore a backup? What if the new version has a bug that affects my system? What if you add "features" (bloat) or malware and I want to keep the older version. ALL this has happened to me many times before, so it is NOT just "software paranoia".

I read a few minutes ago about the paid license not being transferable to a "new PC" anyway, so none of this matters to me anymore because that is a DEAL BREAKER too. I frequently upgrade my hardware, and install, reinstall operating systems, but it is still only my single PC, so the paid version of this software is useless to me now, because it would only be a matter of weeks before it "thinks" I am trying to install it on a different PC. You DO NOT get to control MY hardware or how/when I reinstall/change my O/S. I assume it requires internet activation to achieve the hardware lock? DEAL BREAKER! I refuse to be put on a "leash", and I sure as @#$% refuse to pay you to do so.

You always have all sorts of excuses, we've already responded that a reasonable license reset is acceptable, and the biggest mistake is that we don't offer a fully functional free version. We have to make a living and support our families too.
