I bought v5 just 85 days ago (without the free lifetime license),
and now the new version v6 is available.
Is there a way to upgrade to v6 for free or at a discount?

Hi,
Unfortunately I can't help you with your question. But I'm sure @admin (Hasleo staff), who is very active at this forum, can give more details on this in a few hours. It's currently the weekend and also because of timezone differences, you might have to wait a little longer for an answer, though.
The release of V6 just happened very recently, so Hasleo will probably add some more details soon about the upgrade paths available for users and what to expect when staying on V5.
Cheers,
al3x

I see a new button for "Upgrade: Starting at $34.95", which is the same price as buying a fresh/new Home version, so I'm not seeing any "upgrade discount", but we shall see in time I guess. I waited for v6.x.x.x to be released, but will be curious to see how it works for future reference. I generally avoid paying extra for longer licenses because every time I have, the company promptly goes out of business, or sells the software to a new company who refuses to honor all old licenses.
AnyDVD (Elby > Slysoft > Redfox > ?), or PowerQuest Drive Image vs Symantec, for example:
"Version 7, released in 2003, was the final version published under the PowerQuest brand before the company was acquired by Symantec Corporation. Drive Image version 7 became the basis for Norton Ghost 9.0, which was released to retail markets in August 2004."

This group has been around for just shy of 14-years (previously EasyUEFI)... I'm not sure your concern is valid at the moment

Once again, you criticize Hasleo for the sins of others. I fully agree with my fellow Forum member, @ Froggie.
In your many negative posts on this Forum, you have never provided a scintilla of evidence that Hasleo done any of the misdeeds that you attribute to other companies.
Your posts have actually been irrelevant, which is contrary to Forum Rule 9, which states:

Irrelevant posts will be deleted, as will posts by members that repeatedly ask the same question and do not accept the advice given, but continue with multiple “ what if” scenarios. Those members may be warned, and may ultimately be banned at the discretion of a Moderator or the Forum Administrator, if they persist.
I have advised you, more than once, that if you are unhappy with the Hasleo Backup Suite, to find a backup imaging program that meets your unique needs.
I would politely request that you refrain from comparing the Hasleo Company to other companies, UNLESS you can provide credible evidence.
Regards,
Phil

It's valid. Schwinn, Sears, Panasonic, and on and on. How's that "lifetime warranty" on those Craftsman tools/riding mowers these days?
Razer made $120 ($234 today with inflation), defective, Boomslang mouses/mice for PC in ~2000, then went "out of business" in 2001 just long enough for the warranties to expire, only to reopen and resume pedaling overpriced junk products like nothing ever happened. I got burned by them, PowerQuest, Symantec, and many others doing this stuff. Not implying Hasleo will, but the concern is always valid! I am not criticizing Hasleo at all. I like them quite a bit. I would still choose the standard license personally, just so I know what I'm getting and get what I paid for. But that's just me.

I am not criticizing anyone, at all. I like Hasleo quite a bit. I am not even implying that Hasleo will do any of the above stuff, just giving my personal experience with other licenses in the past, and reasoning for my current preference. Similar to saying I would not buy Macrium any more due to their subscription licensing. It's just an opinion, not an attack, on anyone. I'm not even complaining about the Hasleo licensing system. Why are you so Hell bent on making me out to be a bad guy? The topic was the upgrade license and I simply said what I knew/saw about it and made a harmless comment about my preference on which license I would get. Relax man! Please. You are like a cyber stalker at this point.

Well, I think everything has been said at this point. We had this discussion about mistrusting companies a few months back in another thread and this just led to nothing.
@ Dude Guyman: I'm sorry that you had such a painful experience with companies in the past. Nevertheless Hasleo has been here for 14 years and I'm sure it will be for many years to come. HBS is their biggest and most successful software so far and there's zero reason to give all this away, especially now that HBS has so many features and can keep up with the competition easily. I hope you can regain your trust in companies eventually.
@ garioch7: I don't think he actually criticized Hasleo here but I can see why you wrote that. Let's just give it the benefit of the doubt here.
Going back to the actual topic of this thread: @ N8AKTIV asked about the upgrade path of V5. Let's wait for @ admin's response

Hi all,
Thank you for the discussion.
Users who have purchased V5 can contact us at [email protected], and we will offer a 50% upgrade discount. We apologize that this was not clearly stated on the purchase page or elsewhere, and we will improve the relevant information as soon as possible.
@ Dude Guyman, Hasleo has been in operation for more than ten years, and users who purchased our products over a decade ago can still use their licenses. We have always believed that honesty and trustworthiness are the foundation of long-term business, and we hope to build trust through time and concrete actions. Of course, trust takes time. If you still have concerns about Hasleo, we understand and respect your choice to consider another product that better suits your needs.
We would also like to clarify that software maintenance and development require ongoing investment, so Hasleo may adjust pricing and the feature set of the free version in line with its development needs. Software does not come out of nowhere, website development and operations, programmers, and technical support all require salaries. Even though AI-assisted coding is popular these days, using AI still requires paying for tokens. Frankly speaking, I spend almost every day of the year responding to questions on the forum, and fair compensation is also the foundation for continuing to provide support.
Thank you everyone for your understanding and support.
Have a nice weekend!
Best regards,

Sounds good!
I have no concerns about Hasleo other than the general concern I would have over any purchase. Apologies if it sounded like I was implying otherwise. I think you guys have done a great job and have very good software at a fair price (including the lifetime license). I'm still hoping for Linux EXT file system support some day, but understand from previous discussions how that is not just a simple request. That said, even though EXT4 is not officially supported, I have had great results backing it up from SSD drives, right after doing a TRIM operation on the disk. Mechanical disks, not so great due them not having trim and resulting in huge backup images.
Still, HBS is my favorite currently available imaging software overall by far, and the potential upgrade discount for single version buyers is a generous option, even if most would just say it's better to just get the lifetime license from day one...and it probably is!
