什么是 WinPE？
WinPE，也称为 Microsoft Windows PE 或 Microsoft Windows Preinstallation Environment，是一个基于 Windows 内核版本的精简操作系统。WinPE 旨在为基本系统任务提供轻量级的 WinPE 环境。
WinPE 的主要功能
WinPE 并非旨在成为完整的操作系统（OS），也不旨在为软件应用程序提供全套服务。相反，WinPE 是一个应急启动平台，可用于在计算机上安装、排查或恢复完整的 Windows 环境。计算机 OEM 通常使用 WinPE 在销售前为系统预装 Windows。
WinPE 有时被称为“Windows 启动盘”，因为它通过提供更丰富、更通用的运行环境，使传统的 DOS 启动盘变得过时。例如，根据版本不同，WinPE 启动盘可以支持 NTFS 等存储功能、通过 TCP/IP 联网，以及 32 位和 64 位设备驱动程序。
WinPE 环境还可支持基本的 Windows 应用程序编程接口（API）、Windows Management Instrumentation、Windows Script Host、Systems Management Server（SMS）和 Windows 恢复环境。WinPE 还可以从 CD、DVD、U 盘和 Windows 部署服务等多种来源启动。你可以创建可启动的 WinPE U 盘，以便随时使用。
WinPE 有什么用途？
用于安装时，WinPE 会收集系统硬件信息并执行完整的 Windows OS 安装。OEM 可以定制 WinPE，以自定义和自动化安装过程的各个方面。当 Windows OS 无法正常启动时，WinPE 也可以帮助排查问题。例如，WinPE 可以启动 Windows RE 或其他第三方工具等诊断或恢复工具，也可以直接启动操作系统的重新安装。

WinPE 应支持早期版本的 Windows OS，因此最好使用较新版本的 WinPE（可在 Windows 自动安装工具包中获取）来安装或修复较旧版本的 Windows。使用较旧版本的 WinPE 可能无法支持较新版本的 Windows。
