  Backup options/Filter
Posted by: Froggie - 01-28-2025, 12:32 AM - Forum: Hasleo Backup Suite (Free Windows Backup & Restore Software) - Replies (2)

It is clearly unclear  Huh from your documentation what it means when doing an IMAGING operation AND you have checked (by DEFAULT) the options "Exclude system files/folders" and "Exclude hidden files/folders."  Clearly those functions cannot be happening when doing a System image as the restoration of those images would fail miserably.

Can you explain what these options actually mean when doing images, and if nothing, are they only "active" when doing a File'n'Folder type of backup.  Maybe an update to the on-line documentation, or at least my understanding of such, would help a bit   Confused

File Backup Failing due to Error: Failed to read file. (Ox028D0072C0000102)

I have been able to get full image backups working, and if I can get File Backups working I will be fully set. This program is amazing and I would like to be able to use it to its full potential.

Also, sometimes my image backups fail to this error.

Not sure why these issues are occurring, but if I can get them fixed that would be great!!

  Compression default of v5?
Posted by: lavande - 01-21-2025, 05:30 AM - Forum: Hasleo Backup Suite (Free Windows Backup & Restore Software) - Replies (9)

Hello,

What is the default compression level since version 5?

When the stable version v5 was released, I uninstalled (and deleted the hasleo folder in program files) v4 to have the default compression level of v5. I saw that it should be low by default. I have medium by default with v5.

I made backups with medium level on several computers including old ones, it's okay for the processor and the time to complete the task.

Can't see anything on USB after creating bootable WinPE
Posted by: Andrew99# - 01-18-2025, 05:36 PM - Forum: Hasleo Backup Suite (Free Windows Backup & Restore Software) - Replies (2)

Hi
I put an empty formatted 16Gb USB stick in the PC, ran Hasleo Backup Suit Free, selected Emergency Disk, followed the prompts, did not add drivers or tick download WINPE components, watched it create the image and create emergency disk (both progress bars did their thing) and hit close.
When I look on the USB stick it has renamed it to HASLEOBS but there is nothing to view on the stick in explorer, right click the drive, properties and it says there is 638Mb used.
New PC, i5 14400, 16Gb ram, 1Tb SSD, Win 11, Office 365, nothing else installed yet except Hasleo BSF, have made a backup and then went to make the USB recovery drive.

BY comparison an Acronis recovery USB stick has about 732Mb to 927Mb on it BUT when you look at it in Explorer you can see files and folders, e.g. bootmgr.efi, bootmgr, unattended.xml and a bunch of language folders etc.

What files should be on the USB stick?
How many Mb of files are expected to be on the USB stick?
Why can't I see any files/folders on the stick in Explorer (I put the stick in a win10 machine and can't see any files in Explorer there either.)
Are they hidden somehow?

thanks for any help in advance,

  Differential Backup hangs my computer
Posted by: notko - 01-16-2025, 07:56 PM - Forum: Hasleo Backup Suite (Free Windows Backup & Restore Software) - Replies (11)

This morning, around 8am I found my computer hanging. Black display with a mouse pointer. Waited 20min - nothing. Hard restart.

There was a differential System backup scheduled for 3am which, it seems, started but hadn't finished more than 5h later. On Hasleo Home Last backup was reported Successful, See attached image. There was no corresponding backup file in the image folder.

After the restart a file backup, scheduled for 4am started and finished successfully. That was expected as per Run missed schedule at the next system startup option.

Looked trough Windows Event Log for information but found nothing relevant.

See attachments for logs and other info. If I missed something, don't hesitate to ask.

  Quick questions
Posted by: esox07 - 01-16-2025, 03:03 AM - Forum: Hasleo Backup Suite (Free Windows Backup & Restore Software) - Replies (19)

First time user of any Hasleo product.

I just D/L v5.0.2.2 and am in the process of performing a backup of my system to an external HDD.  My question is this:  If my HDD totally fails or I am unable to boot to windows, how can I restore this backup?  My computer did not come with a system disk or Windows 11 disk.

About older versions of the program
Posted by: corttex - 01-16-2025, 01:10 AM - Forum: Hasleo Backup Suite (Free Windows Backup & Restore Software) - Replies (31)

I noticed that older versions of the program (4.9.0) are no longer supported by you, (as it says in the message when I try to start the program and that I have to update), and do not work anymore, so I wonder if version 4.9.5 will also stop working in a while, and if every version of the program will stop working if it's not updated in say a couple of months or so.

No selection was made for either language or formatting in Macrium UI.
If Macrium can do it, I am sure Hasleo can do it too.

Can't select SATA drive for backup in Hasleo
Posted by: julieparks - 01-09-2025, 02:05 PM - Forum: Hasleo Backup Suite (Free Windows Backup & Restore Software) - Replies (3)

Hello,
I did a backup for my system using Hasleo Backup Suite (free edition). When I opened "backup" it selected my SSD C: drive automatically, and then said all required drives and folders to backup my Windows have been selected. However, I have a SATA internal F: drive where I have these folders: Documents, Downloads, Music, Pictures, and Videos. I put them there to increase the capacity of my SSD because at the time it was just 500GB. I believe that those folders are part of the Windows system that should be included in the backup. I cannot select them separately, or include them in the backup, even though there is a space for the check mark.

1. What am I doing wrong?
2. I now have a 1TB SSD C: drive, so I'd like to know how to transfer the folders listed above back to there, if that is necessary to include them in the backup.
